CoAct and Employment Services

The CoAct network delivers the Commonwealth Government's jobactive programme. CoAct has delivered high quality employment services since government employment services was privatised in 1998. Our aim is to help more people transform their lives by successfully moving from welfare to work. We don't do this in isolation and work in partnership with employers to identify opportunities and design training pathways that gives job seekers the skills required for the modern day workforce.

We're also committed to quality.

We were the first member-based organisation to be accredited under the Department of Employment's Quality Assurance Framework to ensure job seekers receive the highest level of service and we comply with the highest reporting and quality standards required by government. We work hard to continually improve the way we connect with clients, collaborate and innovate to discover new ways to help them secure employment. If you are a job seeker, you are able to choose CoAct as your employment service provider. We help with:

  • Targeted training directly related to future employment opportunities
  • Assistance with work related items, post placement support, professional services and training that meet the needs of both job seekers and employers
  • Wage Subsidies and options to encourage employers to offer ongoing employment to young and mature age job seekers, the long-term unemployed and Indigenous job seekers.

What is jobactive?

The Australian Government has introduced a new employment services called jobactive to better meet the needs of job seekers and employers and improve job outcomes. This programme commences on July 1, 2015.

Job seekers will have access to tailored help from a jobactive organisation, based on their assessed needs. This could include:

  • Help looking for work, writing a resume and preparing for interviews
  • Referrals to jobs in their local area
  • Training that is suited to the skills that local employers need
  • Case management so that job seekers are ready to take up and keep a job
  • Support to complete Work for the Dole or other eligible activities to provide them with work-like experiences, to help them learn new skills and improve their chances of finding a job

The network of jobactive organisations across Australia will help employers find staff for their business, at no charge to them. These organisations will screen candidates to ensure they meet an employer's business needs. They will work with job seekers to support them to take part in Work for the Dole or other activities to prepare them for the work environment. Any training job seekers do will be relevant to employers' needs and real job opportunities.
